Lurgan's Annabel Wilson took another big step in her already impressive career when she proved to be too strong for France's Elsa Ettori-Douard and cruised to 3 and 2 win in the final of the Trophée Cartier in the French U21 Girls' Championship.

As Sweden's Amanda Linner beat compatriot Beatrice Wallin 6 and 5 in the Esmond Trophy for Under 21s at Golf de Saint-Cloud in Paris, 15-year old Annabel built a four up lead after the morning round before Ettori-Douard staged a mini rally in the 36-hole final.

The French challenger birdied the 20th to get back to three down, lost next to go four down again before slipping to six down through 23 holes.

After Annabel lost the 28th, the local player birdied the 29th and won the 30th and 31st to get back to just two down.

However, she bogeyed the 33rd to go three down with three to play, eventually falling at the next where she came up short in a bunker.

"I am disappointed, especially for the morning round, where I made too many mistakes," Ettori-Douard said. "I played better in the second round but it wasn't enough. I'll reflect on the fact that I played well all week in only my second Esmond Trophy."

It was another huge week for Annabel, who won Ireland's first World Amateur Team Championship bronze alongside Leona Maguire and Olivia Mehaffey in the Espirito Santo Trophy in Mexico last year
