Seamus Power failed to build on a sensational start but still carded an opening 68 to in the Barbasol Championship at RTJ Trail's Grand National course in Alabama.
The 30-year old from West Waterford Golf Club opened with four birdies on his opening nine before picking up two more birdies at the 16th and 17th to lead on six-under par.
He then bogeyed the 18th to be out in 31 but came home in two-over 37 with birdies at the first and fifth cancelled out by a bogey at the third, a double bogey six at the fourth and a closing bogey at the ninth.
He finished the day tied for 24th on three-under par, three strokes behind co-leaders Martin Flores, Cameron Tringale and Zac Blair when play was suspended due to darkness following a two-hour rain delay. Scores
