Leinster's Caolan Rafferty and Munster's Geoff Lenehan were the strongmen in this week's Interprovincial Matches at Carlow.

Leinster completed a hat-trick of wins with Rafferty staking his claim to a place in the Irish team for the Home Internationals by winning five and a half points out of six.

It was a performance matched by Lenehan, who will be looking to persuade the selectors that he would be a fine choice by performing well in the South of Ireland at Lahinch later this month.

Rafferty will tee it up in next week’s North of Ireland (See Draw) hoping to break his championship duck at Royal Portrush.

Portmarnock's Conor Purcell won five points out of six with Kilkenny teenager Mark Power's four and a half out of six on his senior debut the other outstanding performance.

Having just retained his Irish Amateur Boys title by holing out from 129 yards with a wedge for an eagle two, Power must also be a near certainty to play at Moortown in August where Ireland will seek a fourth successive Raymond Trophy victory.
