Walsh and Clancy qualify at British Girls

Castlewarden’s Lauren Walsh and Killarney’s Valerie Clancy qualified for the matchplay stages of the British Girls’ Amateur Open but Annabel Wilson, Mairead Martin and Rachel Thompson missed out.

Walsh (72-73) was 14th at Enville’s Highgate Course on one-over par on 145 with Clancy (77-75) 60th on eight over 152.

Wilson (78-76) missed out by two strokes on 154 with Martin (79-77) 156 and Thompson (76-83) and 159 also out of the event.

Scotland’s Shannon McWilliam led the qualifiers when she posted a one-under-par 71 to finish on a three-under 141.
