Royal Dublin's Niall Kearney faces an anxious wait to see if he has made the 36-hole cut at the Final Stage of the 90-hole Asian Tour Qualifying School in Thailand.

The Dubliner (29) was one of 123 players forced to return to St Andrews 2000 to complete their weather-delayed opening rounds on Thursday morning.

Kearney eventually made five bogeys and one birdie in a four-over 75, then carded a one-over 72 at Rayong Green Valley Country Club in round two.

At five-over-par, he shares 181st with just 118 players set to return to the venues at 7am on Friday to complete their second rounds.

That leaves him two shots outside the top 140 and ties who are currently projected to make the 36-hole cut and while the eventual cut mark is likely to be higher, it remains to be seen if it will move down to five-over.

The 243 Final Stage entrants play one round at each of the two Final Stage venues before the field is cut to the leading 140 players and ties, who will then play another two rounds.

After 72 holes the field is cut to the leading 70 and ties, who will then proceed to the fifth and final round held only at the Rayong Green Valley Country Club. 

At the conclusion of 90 holes, the top 35 players and ties will be ranked accordingly for the 2018 season.

South Korea's Minkyu Kim followed an opening 70 at Rayong Green Valley Country Club with a  66 at St Andrews 2000 to lead in the clubhouse on six-under par.
