Dan Sugrue wins again at Castlemartyr
Dooks' Dan Sugrue made it three wins from as many starts when he made six birdies in a five-under 67 to capture the Munster PGA's Winter Series outing at Castlemartyr Resort.
The Killarney native (40) went out in 32 thanks to birdies at the fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth.
He picked up another shot at the 12th and bounced back from his only dropped shot of the day at the 13th with a birdie at the 15th to come home in 35.
He finished three strokes ahead of Douglas professional David Barry, Limerick's Tim Rice and Killarney Golf and Fishing Club's Cormac Flannery as they posted two-under 70's.
Barry started with three birdies in his first four holes, bogeyed the seventh and 11th but birdied the 17th while Rice birdied the third, seventh and eighth to turn in 33 before following a lone bogey at the 10th with eight pars.
Flannery birdied the first, bogeyed the third and doubled the fifth after incurring a two-stroke penalty for playing from the wrong tee.
But he finished the front nine strongly, making an eagle at the eighth and a birdie at the ninth to turn in one-under.
He then birdied the 12th and 13th before dropping his only shot of the homeward journey at the 16th.
Dan Sugrue, John Sugrue and Rice had thirteen birdies between them to win the team event by three points from Gary Howie, Padraig McGrath and Mark Collins
