Paul Dunne and Shane Lowry are nine shots behind Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult heading into the final round of the HNA Open de France.

Lowry shot a four-under 67 and Dunne a level par 71 to leave them tied for 11th on one-under at Le Golf National

Kinhult (21) carded a 67 to lead by two shots from Chris Wood, who also shot 67,  on 10-under.

The pair will have three of the world’s top players – Sergio Garcia, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm - chasing them on Sunday, with former Masters winner Garcia surging into contention thanks to a masterful 64.

The Spaniard, who is making his debut on this year's Ryder Cup course, posted eight birdies before finding water from the tee at the 18th to finish with a bogey, leaving him in third place on seven-under par.

He will be joined in the penultimate group by world No 5 Rahm, who followed a birdie on the 17th by holing a 35ft birdie putt on the last hole for a round of 68 to lie four shots back on six under par.

World No 2 Thomas also found the lake with his drive on the 18th but scrambled a par to post a round of 69, the same as his fellow American Julian Suri, who joins him in a share of fifth place on five under par.

Kinhult, Suri and Spain's Adrian Otaegui, who is tied for seventh on three-under, lead the race for three spots in The Open.

Graeme McDowell is tied 30th on two-over after a 70

Power slips back in Quicken Loans

Two late bogeys saw Seamus Power sign for a two-over 72 to slip to tied 43rd at the Quicken Loans National at TPC Potomac in Maryland.

The West Waterford man had little luck on the greens until he holed a 16 footer at the 13th to get back to level for the day before late bogeys at the 16th and 17th left him on two-under-par and 11 shots behind leader Francesco Molinari and Abraham Ancer.

Ancer had just 25 putts in an eight-under 62 as Molinari shot 65 to leave them two clear of Zac Blair and Ryan Armour on 13-under.

Tiger Woods went out in 32 to get within striking distance of the leaders on eight-under but played the back nine in one-over, finishing with a bogey for a 68 that leaves him tied for 10th, six off the pace.
