Golf clubs receive €2.34 million in 2018 Sports Capital Programme
Fifty-four golf clubs in the Republic of Ireland received €2.34 million in grants from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport through the 2018 Sports Capital Programme.
In total, the government allocated €37,084,304 to sporting organisations all over Ireland with golf receiving 6.37 percent of that total. Gaelic Games was awarded €15.8 million to 405 projects (an average of €39,000 per project). Soccer received €4.3 million and rugby €1.78 million.
Stackstown Golf Club received the top golf allocation of €121,783 for “Universal Access Facilities & Purchase of Equipment” while Beech Park Golf Club was awarded €115,168 towards “Practice and Pathway upgrades Machine replacement”.
Blainroe in Co Wicklow, which is one of the most progressive clubs in Ireland for Junior golf and the Get Into Golf scheme, received €47,477 towards the cost of its all-weather driving range facility.
In total, 21 counties received grants with Dublin receiving €667,434, Cork €293,740 and Wicklow €287,478.
