McSweeney wins Morgan O'Donovan Perpetual Trophy

Lahinch professional Donal McSweeney made five birdies in a two-under a 54 to win the Morgan O'Donovan Perpetual Trophy for Munster PGA professionals over 14 holes at Castletroy.

The Lahinch professional win by one stroke from Charleville’s Mark Collins and by two from Ballyneety’s Walter Doyle.

McSweeny also won the team prize alongside Doyle, Jack Howard and Cian McNamara, edging out Tim Rice, Eanna Jones, Padraig Dooley and Kevin McGrath by a shot on 10-under.

He offset bogeys at the ninth, 10th and 12th with birdies at the second, third, fourth, 11th and 13th as Collins birdied the second, sixth, ninth and 13th to cancel out bogeys at the third, 12th and 14th.

Doyle sandwiched 11 pars between birdies at the first and 13th in an event sponsored by Cobra/Puma Golf.
