Portrush treat for Flogas Irish Junior Open champions

Harry O'Hara - Gary Player champion

Youngsters just need encouragement to fall in love with the game and they will get plenty at Royal Portrush tomorrow when European Tour professionals Gary Murphy and Cormac Sharvin tee it up with two up and coming stars in the Flogas Irish Junior Open Match.

Ten-year-old Harry O’Hara from Clandeboye and Holywood, the Junior Open’s Gary Player champion, will be partner Murphy while seven-year-old Parker Bonnes from Galgorm Castle, the Junior Open Winter Series champion, will be joined by Sharvin.

"I’m really looking forward to playing with Parker and Harry," Sharvin said. "Hopefully they can maybe learn from playing with Gary and myself and vice versa.

"It’s great the support Flogas has given to both pro level and grassroots golf. I’m always excited and up for anything that will help grow the game of golf. Also, who knows we could be playing with two future stars.

Former European Tour professional  Murphy added: "Like Cormac, I'm really excited to play with Harry and Parker. It is such a special place and to get to play Royal Portrush in the year it hosts the Open Championship is something to cherish.

"It is wonderful that we will get a sneak preview of the course for what will be a historic week for Northern Ireland."

The 'Flogas Irish Junior Open Match' tees off at 11 am tomorrow (April 12)  and will be showcased on all the Irish Junior Open's social media accounts and www.irishjunioropen.com
