Jonny Caldwell will take a two-shot lead into the final round of The Newmachar Golf Club Challenge in Aberdeen.

The Clandeboye carded a five-under-par 67 to lead on 13-under par from England's John Parry after taking his birdie tally to 15 this week.

He stands on the brink of a winning a £10,000 cheque and a Challenge Tour card.

Ranked 11th in the Race to Desert Spring standings, a win on Friday would be a huge boost towards finishing in the top five who are awarded promotion after the season-ending Tour Championships, scheduled for Desert Springs in Spain from October 30 to November 1.

Caldwell won the Clipper Logistics Championship on the Europro Tour in 2016.
