She's only 11 but Olivia Costello can help Roscommon qualify for the semi-finals of the AIG Senior Foursomes when they clash with Limerick at Knightsbrook Hotel and Golf Resort today.

The five handicapper won two matches for Connacht in the Girls Interprovincials and she could be key to Roscommon's chances against the Munster champions on the opening day of the AIG Ladies Cup and Shields Finals at the Co Meath resort.

The winners will face Courtown in tomorrow's semi-finals while East Leinster champions Woodbrook will take on Ulster kingpins Massereene.

Today's action also features the Intermediate Cup quarter-final between Corrstown and Mullingar and the Minor Cup quarter-final of New Forest and Royal Belfast.

The four-day festival of golf features 30 teams chasing six coveted green pennants.

If Limerick beat Roscommon, they will join Castlebar, Mullingar and Newlands in their bid for success in multiple events.

Kilmashogue, Rathcore, Dromoland, Castlereagh Hills, Castlerock, New Forest, Tulfarris and Moyola Park will all be making their debuts in the finals.

Brigid McCaw, President of the ILGU, said: "I congratulate all 30 teams on reaching the last stages of this year's tournament and wish all players good golf and enjoyable matches throughout the week."
