Naas golfer Jonathan Yates slipped from third to eighth after carding a one-over 73 in the second round of the Italy Alps Open in Rome.
The former West of Ireland champion needs a big week to make the top three in the Order of Merit who will be awarded Challenge Tour cards after what is the final event of the season.
He is tied for eighth on four-under par, six strokes behind Italy's Filippo Bergamaschi, who added a 69 to his opening 65 to lead by a shot on 10-under from France’s Jeong Weon Ko (69) and compatriot Jacopo Vecchi Fossa (66).
The cut fell at three over 147 with Peter Dallat making it on the mark after a 69.
