Galway's Ronan Mullarney got some competitive practice ahead of his first Alps Tour start later this month when he shot a level par 71 to win the gross in the TaylorMade Winter Series at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.

Irish Amateur Close champion last year and now a professional, he mixed birdies at the fourth and 13th with bogeys at the sixth and 12th to win after a countback from Portmarnock Links' Declan O'Neill.

Gary Cullen took the third gross with a 72 while another home player, three-handicapper Eamonn Keane, shot a 70 to win the nett by one stroke from Grange's Roy Connolly and Fortwilliam's Conor McErlane.

Keane's two-over 73 gross was an excellent effort, comprising a solitary birdie at the 13th against bogeys at the fifth, 10th and 18th.
