Moynihan and Dawson through to the weekend in Cape Town
Gavin Moynihan carded a five-under 67 and Robin Dawson a superb 66 to make the cut in the Challenge Tour’s RAM Cape Town Open at Royal Cape.
Moynihan made five birdies in a bogey-free effort to move up 57 places on the leaderboard to tied 22nd on three-under, leaving him eight shots behind leader Daniel Van Tonder of South Africa.
It was an even better day for Portmarnock Links touring professional Dawson, who leapt 99 spots to 51st on one-under after he made eight birdies in his six-under round.
Van Tonder (28) carded a bogey-free, five-under 67 to lead by one stroke on 11-under from Aron Zemmer and by two from Mitch Waite.
However, Niall Kearney and Michael Hoey both missed the one-under-par cut.
Kearney shot a level par 72 to finish on four-over-par with Hoey eight-over after a second-round 73.
