Golf Ireland has confirmed that given the deteriorating COVID-19 situation, it will not be sending amateur squads to compete in South Africa next month.

Ireland has traditionally sent teams to compete in a range of early season events in South Africa and 12 months ago, eight players competed in the African Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Leopard Creek and the South African Stroke Play Championship at Randpark.

The trips were backed by the GUI’s High Performance Programme, supported by Sport Ireland and Sport NI.
