Lauren Walsh continues hot streak; team win for Mehaffey's ASU
Castlewarden’s Lauren Walsh clinched her sixth top-10 finish in a row when she tied for tenth in the Gamecock Intercollegiate at Columbia Country Club in South Carolina.
The Wake Forest star shot rounds of 76, 71 and 70 to finish on one-over-par, eight strokes behind individual winner Erica Shepherd from Duke, who also won the team title by three strokes from Wake Forest.
Walsh, who is now ranked 24th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, has been playing well for over a year.
She was 10th in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate 12 months ago, then returned to Wake Forest this year to win the Women's Griffin Amateur and the Sunshine State Amateur before finishing second in the UCF Challenge and the Palmetto Intercollegiate in recent weeks.
Her next start comes in the Valspar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills from March 13-14.
Meanwhile, Olivia Mehaffey landed another team title to her resumé when Arizona State University won the Bruin Wave Invitational for the first time.
Linn Grant captured the Individual honours on four-over with Mehaffey tied 28th on 22-over. Scores
