Yates falls back in Pescara
ALPS TOUR — Jonny Yates dropped three shots in his last two holes to fall seven shots off the pace heading into the final round of the Abruzzo Alps Open at Miglianico Golf & Country Club in Pescara.
Tied for second after an opening 65, he was three-under for the day through seven holes but bogeyed the par-five ninth and then came home in three-over, finishing bogey, double-bogey to card a one-over 72 that left him tied for 17th on five-under.
Italians Edoardo Giletta (66) and Jacopo Vecchi Fossa (64) lead by a shot on 12-under from French amateur Tom Vaillant (66) with David Carey (71) the next best of the Irish, tied for 20th on four-under.
The cut fell at level par with Rhys Clarke (71-74) three-over, Paul McBride (71-76) four-over, Gary Hurley (76-73) seven-over and Simon Bryan (80-72) 10-over.
