Hurley, O'Rourke and Sharvin remain on course at Q-School Second Stage

Gary Hurley, Conor O’Rourke and Cormac Sharvin are inside the qualifying mark at halfway in the Second Stage of the DP World Tour Q-School in Spain.

West Waterford star Hurley, who is guaranteed Challenge Tour status via the Alps Tour, finished with two birdies at Emporda in Girona to card a level par 71 and share eighth place on five-under in the battle for 23 places.

Stuart Grehan slipped two shots outside the qualifying mark on one-under as he followed three birdies in his first four holes with three bogeys and a costly triple bogey at his 11th hole in a 74 with Conor Purcell one-over after a 69 and Paul McBride five-over after a 76.

O’Rourke made five birdies in a three-under 69 at Desert Springs in Almeria to share 12th place on seven-under in the battle for 23 places with Rosapenna’s Ruaidhri McGee just a shot outside the mark after a 71.

Gavin Moynihan shot 74 and Castle amateur Robert Moran a 73 to share 66th on six-over.

Naas’ Jonathan Yates followed a 68 with a 69 at Isla Canela Links in Huelva but finds himself two strokes outside the qualifying places with two rounds to go.

At Las Colinas in Alicante, Sharvin made six birdies in a three-under 68 to share 12th place on five-under in the race for 22 spots.

Ballymena’s Dermot McElroy is just two shots outside the qualifying places on three-under after making an eagle and four birdies in a three-under 68 but Niall Kearney has work to do after a one-over 72 left him on level par.

Meanwhile, Paul Murphy and Tom Dowdall came through the First Stage of the Alps Tour Q-School at Miglianico.

Murphy finished tied 16th on two-over with Dowdall a shot further back but Daniel Mulligan missed out by four shots on eight-over.

Murphy and Dowdall join Ronan Mullarney, John Hickey and Joseph Hanney, who qualified at Acaya on Thursday.
