Kitt 27th as Kennedy claims Portuguese Amateur

England’s Frank Kennedy

Athenry’s David Kitt finished 27th in the 92nd Portuguese International Amateur Championship.

The Maynooth University golfer followed three 70s with a three-over 75 to finish on three-under-par at Montado Golf Resort.

England’s Frank Kennedy (16) completed an impressive wire-to-wire triumph by closing with a one-under-par 64 to win by four strokes from Germany’s Finn Kolle on 19-under par with England’s Arron Edwards-Hil third on 13-under after a 70.

Kennedy’s 19-under par aggregate was a championship record.

The Manchester resident spends many months a year in Jupiter, Florida, where he has 'neighbours' such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

"I am very proud of my victory and hope to return to defend, Kennedy said. “It's my first title in the main tier. it's the most important I've ever won.”
