Foley signs sponsorship deal with Uniphar

Ger Rabbette (CEO Uniphar) and Hugh Foley with South of ireland and North of Ireland trophies

Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley has one eye on the professional game but this year’s Walker Cup is a huge goal and he now has sponsorship to help him shine in the amateur ranks this season and beyond.

Uniphar plc today announced a three-year golf sponsorship deal with Foley (25)), who lit up the circuit in 2022 winning both the South of Ireland and North of Ireland titles.

The first man to do so since Darren Clarke back in 1990, he also went on to reach the finals of the AIG Irish Amateur Close and was runner up in the US Mid-Amateur Championship to Irish teammate Matt McClean, with whom he got to play Augusta National recently.

The Royal Dublin man win the Bridgestone Tour Order of Merit and rounded out a stellar year by being declared Men's Amateur of the Year for 2022 by the Irish Golf Writers’ Association

Foley has been named as one of the six Irish players within the 19-strong squad that are now vying for the final 10 places to represent Great Britain and Ireland in this year’s centenary Walker Cup against the USA at St Andrews in September.

With another exciting year ahead and currently ranked 142nd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Foley has indicated he may consider turning professional at the end of 2023.

Announcing today’s sponsorship deal, the CEO of Uniphar plc , Ger Rabbette, said the Uniphar was delighted to be putting their support behind Foley.

“Hugh is a hugely talented golfer and a wonderful exponent of the game,” he said. “He’s come out of a terrific year in 2022 winning a rare double on the Irish amateur circuit by taking both the North and South of Ireland titles, while also finishing convincingly in both the US Mid-Amateur and AIG Irish Amateur Close.

Foley said he was extremely grateful for the new round of support coming from Uniphar plc.
