Carey fires nine-under 63 to make Monday Qualifier for John Deere Classic
Dubliner David Carey has twice qualified for PGA TOUR events this season and he will have a chance to make it three next week after carding a nine-under-par 63 in his pre-qualifier to make Monday qualifying for the John Deere Classic.
The Dundonald Links touring professional made eight birdies and an eagle two at the 17th at Pinnacle Country Club in Illinois to go 10-under for his round before a closing bogey six saw him finish tied for second, a shot behind winner Dylan Meyer.
Carey, who has shot 57 in the Alps Tour, will make his previously qualified for the Valero Texas Open and the RBC Canadian Open but missed the cut in both.
He will be one of 75 players in Monday’s 18-hole sprint bidding for four spots at TPC Deere Run next week.
