Ballyneety in Limerick to host 2027 Junior Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup Europe today announced that the 2027 Junior Ryder Cup will take place at Ballyneety Golf Club
The Limerick club will be the venue for the first two days of foursomes and fourballs between male and female juniors from Europe and the United States in 2027, before the decisive single matches are held at Adare Manor, the day before the venue hosts the Ryder Cup itself
Co-designed by Declan Branigan and 2014 Ryder Cup Vice-Captain Des Smyth, Ballyneety is set on 183 acres of rolling Irish countryside. The exceptional parkland layout offers breathtaking views over Limerick County.
Edward Kitson, Junior Ryder Cup Match Director, said: “Ballyneety Golf Club will be a magnificent host for the Junior Ryder Cup in 2027.
“The venue offers one of the finest parkland golfing experiences in Ireland, and the next generation of golfing superstars will relish the opportunity to compete on the champion-standard layout.
“Playing the final day singles matches at Adare Manor will be a fantastic experience for the 24 players who get the opportunity to compete in front of Ryder Cup crowds on the Ryder Cup course.
“These matches will form part of an exciting Ryder Cup week, and fans will be able to see some of the most exciting future talent in action.”
John Leamy, General Manager of Ballyneety Golf Club, said: “It is a true honour for Ballyneety Golf Club to host the 2027 Junior Ryder Cup.
“This tournament represents not only a celebration of skill and dedication to the game but also an opportunity to showcase the spirit of our community and the beauty and quality of our Championship course.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the world’s top emerging golf talent to compete on one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses.”
He added: “Ballyneety Golf Club is committed to providing an unparalleled experience for players and spectators alike. Our team, which includes Course Manager Dave Bailey, Donal McSweeney, our Head Professional, and Walter Shanahan, 2027 Junior Ryder Cup Chairperson, are dedicated to offering exceptional hospitality both on and off the course to ensure that the Junior Ryder Cup is made special for everyone involved.”
The Junior Ryder Cup has produced many golfing stars and the best male and female junior amateurs from Europe and the United States will again go head-to-head in the mixed event.
Rory McIlroy, Nicolai Højgaard and Nicolas Colsaerts, the 2023 European Ryder Cup Vice-Captain, all triumphed in the junior event before also winning the Ryder Cup, while Suzann Pettersen, Carlota Ciganda, Leona Maguire and Emily Kristine Pedersen played in the event as amateurs before lifting the Solheim Cup.
