Seamus Power.
An out of sorts Seamus Power missed the cut in his first start of the season in the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The West Waterford man found himself behind the eight ball when he opened with a three over 73 at Waialae Country Club.
But while he opened with a birdie four at the 10th in round two, he again struggled to hit fairways and bogeyed his 15th hole before making a double bogey six at his 17th.
He signed for a two over 72 to finish eight shots outside the cut mark on five-over.
He was in good company as 15 players who were on Maui last week for The Sentry, the season's first Signature Event that featured 2024 winners and the top 50 in last season's FedExCup, also missed the weekend
Those missing out included Billy Horschel, Chris Kirk and Austin Eckroat.
At the top of the leaderboard, Patrick Fishburn rode some early momentum to shoot 65 and Denny McCarthy overcame a slow start to card a 66 to leave them tied for the lead on 10-under.
They were one shot clear of Kensei Hirata (63), Eric Cole (67) and Paul Peterson (67).
Among those two shots behind were figures from the last Ryder Cup in Rome — Austria’s Sepp Straka and US captain Zach Johnson.
Johnson, who turns 49 next month, holed out with a nine-iron for an eagle at the third and shot 31 on the front nine.
He went on to shoot 66 to sit just two shots off the lead, tied for sixth alongside Straka (66), Lee Hodges (64), Alex Smalley (64) and JJ Spaun (66).
The Sentry winner, Hideki Matsuyama, shot 69 to share 42nd in four-under as he bids to become the third player to sweep the Hawaii tournaments in the same year and the first since Justin Thomas in 2017.
