Hugh Foley joined Ronan Mullarney in the top 10 in the Alps Tour Order of Merit when he finished 16th in the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open on Saturday.

Castle’s Robert Moran was the best of the Irish at The Residence Golf Tunis, closing with a five-under 67 to finish tied for eighth on six-under, seven behind Spain’s  Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela.

The event was reduced to 36 holes and Moran took advantage of the better side of the draw to sit at 16th in the Order of Merit after the first four events (T17, CUT, T10, T8).

Foley got the bad side of the draw, playing his first round in the worst of the wind that lashed the early starters on day one and forced organisers to cancel the afternoon play on day two and reduce the event to 36 holes.

He followed an opening 73 with a 67 to finish tied 16th on four-under and move to 10th in the Order of Merit race for five HotelPlanner Tour cards.

Michael Youn was T33 on one-under (74-69), with Mullarney (9th in the Order of Merit) 51st on three-over (74-73).

On a day marked by moderate winds that intensified toward the final holes for the field’s top players, Hernandez Cabezuela (22) followed a 69 to a 62 to secure his second in four starts by two shots from Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Spain’s Rocco Repetto, who finished birdie-albatross (2-2) for a 65, on 13-under.

"It’s been a challenging few days with the wind during the first two rounds, and I’m really pleased with how I’ve played,” Hernandez Cabezuela said.

“I’d like to maintain this strong form. I’m just one win away from earning automatic promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour. I need to keep working hard, and I’m very happy with the progress I’m making.”

The Alps Tour now moves to Tabarka for the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour, scheduled from March 25-27.
