Harrington the play-off king

By Brian Keogh

Padraig Harrington is Ireland's play-off king after his sixth sudden death victory from 11 attempts.

The Dubliner beat Tiger Woods to win the Dunlop Phoenix event in Japan last November.

But his extra time victory over Bradley Dredge still leaves him with a negative record in Europe.

The Dubliner has now won three of his seven European Tour duels - adding to his 2002 win over Eduardo Romero in the Dunhill Links and 2003 defeat of Thomas Bjorn in the TPC of Europe in Germany.

He has also won and lost play-offs in the US, taking the 2005 Honda Classic just a year after losing the Buick Classic.

The 2005 Irish PGA title also went to Harrington after an extra time duel with Stephen Hamill and Damien McGrane.
