Walker wins qualifier

Dundalk's Leslie Walker fired a one-over par 73 to win the Regional Qualifier for the Open at wind-lashed Royal Dublin.

Walker will be joined by ten Irish players and one Swede in Local Final Qualifying next week with 386 players battling for just 12 places at Carnoustie.

Qualifiers (*amateur): 73 L Walker; 74 J Kehoe, A Murray; 75 P Williamson, H Anderrson (Swe); 76 M Mulryan; 77 M McDermott, P Dooley, B McElhinney, C Curley*, B Trainor, D Sugrue.
