McIlroy targets 2010 Open at St Andrews
Holywood hotshot Rory McIlroy has set his sight on Open glory at St Andrews in 2010.
The Ulster teenager, 19, believes he has a great chance of lifting the Claret Jug at the Home of Golf after finishing eighth in the Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday.
Up to 102nd in the world - a rise of 130 places so far this year - he can't wait for the Open to return to St Andrews in 2010.
He said: "Roll on 2010. Winning the Open is a huge goal of mine and I always said that if I was to play the Open here I would do well.
"I've played it probably between 15 and 20 times and I find it easy. I can make birdies round here and I feel very comfortable."
McIlroy closed with a 67 at St Andrews on Sunday and revealed that he had never shot worse than 69 over the most famous golf course in the world.
He now 42nd in the Order of Merit with a cool €572,235 from 25 starts so far this year.
