Murphy 12th at Martin Downs

Waterville's Mark Murphy finished tied 12th in the first event of the Gateway Tour's Beach Spring Series in Florida.

The Kerryman, 29, hit rounds of 76, 71 and 73 on the Crane Course at at Martin Downs CC to finish 12 shots off the pace on four-over par.

Murphy earned $1,917 (€1,240) as Bostonian Justin Peters finished on eight-under to win by three and pocket a cheque for $9,160 (€5,924).
