Internationals exit at Rosses Point
Five Irish internationals made an early exit from the West of Ireland championship at Rosses Point.
Banbridge's Connor Doran and Co Louth's Simon Ward lost in the first round before defending champion Joe Lyons, Newlands’ Cian Curley and an injured Niall Kearney departed in the afternoon.
Two matches went to the 19th late in the day but only one was completed as darkness fell.
Rory Leonard lost to Mullingar's Dessie Morgan but Knock's Michael Sinclair and JP Hughes of Douglas will resume on the 20th at 7.50 am on Tuesday.
Title favourites SHane Lowry and Jonathan Hurst both progressed.
Irish Close champion Lowry edged out Knock's Nicky Grant by one hole in a tight match as Hurst took just 25 holes to win both his matches and will face Co Sligo's Gary McDermott in the third round.
