Gray leads in Azores
Eamonn Darcy is 11 shots behind Scotland’s Martin Gray entering the final round of the Azores Senior Open.
The Delgany man is tied for 20th on five-over par after a three-over par 75 at Batalha Golf Club.
Denis O'Sullivan is on seven over after a 77 with Jimmy Heggarty tied 47th on 10 over after a 76.
Gray fired a 69 to take a four- shot lead over England’s Nick Job and will break new ground should he hold onto his advantage.
The Scot never won a European Tour event in a professional career spanning 36 years.
The 56 year old said: “A four shot lead is obviously a healthy one, but if the wind’s blowing hard again, that can disappear in an instant. I’ll just try to do the same things again tomorrow. Nerves won’t come into it – I’m far too old for that.”
America’s Bob Boyd, Australia’s Stewart Ginn and Argentina’s Luis Carbonetti are in a tie for third place on one under par.
