Maybin finishes well in Cordoba

Gareth Maybin got his Challenge Tour season off to a solid start with a share of 24th in the Abierto del Centro in Argentina.

The Ballyclare man closed with a 70 to finish on one-under par at Cordoba Golf Club as Argentina's Estanislao Goya beat England's Gary Boyd at the first extra hole to take the title.

Goya (66) and Boyd (65) finished two clear of James Heath on 12-under par with US Open champion Angel Cabrera (67) tied for sixth.

Dubliner Stephen Browne slumped to a four-over par 75 on the final day to share 52nd spot on five-over.

Overnight leader Taco Remkes had to settle for joint fourth after a level par 72.
