Gareth Shaw was the only Irishman to make the cut in the Challenge Tour's Kärten Golf Open in Austria.

The Lurgan man, 23, shot a sparking five under par 67 at the Golfclub Klagenfurt-Seltenheim to trail leader Carlos Rodiles by seven shots on seven-under par.

Shaw had six birdies and one bogey in a round that left him tied for 11th place behind Rodiles, who was quick to point out that his seven under par effort was actually his third successive 65, having posted that same number during the final round of the Telenet Trophy last weekend en route to finishing in second place.

Noel Fox (79) and Alan Murray (72) missed the two under par cut by five shots with Peter O'Keeffe finishing well down the field on six over par after rounds of 76 and 74.

Killarney's Danny Sugrue, making a rare appearance on tour, followed his opening 80 with a 72 to finish on eight over with Stackstown's Mark Campbell shooting 80-77 for a 13 over par total.
