Murray on course at Lahinch
Limerick's Pat Murray remained on course for a famous double in the South of Ireland Amateur Open at Lahinch today.
The 38-year old captured his first amateur "major" when he lifted the Irish Amateur Close title at Enniscrone last month.
Now he is just three matches away from adding the "South" to his list of achievements after a hard-fought 1 up win over Portmarnock's James Fox set up a quarter-final meeting with Lee Valley's Sean Barry this afternoon.
Laytown and Bettystown's Robert Cannon faces Malahide's Gavin O'Connor with the winner of that clash taking on Castletroy's Eamonn Haugh or former West of Ireland runner up David Finn of Mallow in tomorrow morning's semi-finals.
Galways's Joe Lyons, who was runner up to Darren Crowe at Lahinch two years ago, faces Cork's Gary O'Flaherty with the winner of that one meeting Murray or Barry.
