Poulter has Elton John moment
Poor old Ian Poulter lost it again today. Even Denis Pugh, the long suffering coach to the sometimes theatrical Scot Colin Montgomerie, was mildly amused by the Londoner's behaviour.
"An Elton John moment." That was Pugh's assessment on SkySports' Golf Night after watching Poulter declare that he would not be returning to France after being put off by a trigger-happy snapper when his French Open charge was in full flow.
"It's frustrating when you get a novice cameraman out here this week," Poulter whined after finishing third, three shots outside the play-off between Westwood and Kaymer. "It spoils the day, spoils the tournament. It's one I want to win and some stupid cameraman makes it difficult for you."
Poulter can feel aggrieved that he was put off and bogeyed the 15th, but this?
"It's a good tournament, but I won't be back next year ......... It's so frustrating that they are let in. The spectators were magnificent, awesome and he ruins the whole week.
"What are you going to do? I'm going to take the tournament off my schedule."
Needless to say, we were treated to another tweet from Poulter soon after the calamity:
Interesting to note the Elton John was nicknamed Sharon but his good friend Rod Stewart. Poulter is, of course, known as Raquel to his buddy Sir Nick Faldo.
