Clarke set for Turkey shoot

Darren Clarke will tee it up in the BEKO Classic in Turkey later this month.Darren Clarke will compete in this year’s PGAs of Europe endorsed BEKO Classic at Cornelia Golf Club in Turkey from November 15-17.

The 2011 Open champion will be joined at Belek near Antalya by former Ryder Cup players Andrew Coltart and Paul Broadhurst and former French Open winner and defending champion Phil Golding.

Previous winners Simon Edwards, Jon Bevan, Jamie Little, Erol Simsek, Raymond Rusell and Liam Bond will also tee it up as well as 2004 Volvo PGA Championship, Scott Drummond.

The field will contest the Pro-Am over the Faldo design, 27-hole course, with a different 18-hole layout being played on each day, for a prize-fund of US$80,000.

The event clashes with the European Tour’s Hong Open but Clarke can’t make the Top 60 in the money list who qualify for the season-ending DP World Championship following his decision to skip this week’s Singapore Open to attend a social event in Northern Ireland.

Ranked 105th in the money list, he is more than €400,000 adrift of the top 60 with only €340,000 on offer for the winner in Hong Kong.
