McCormack 11th in Portuguese Amateur

Montado Golf ResortGalway’s Eddie McCormack finished eight shots behind Germany’s Moritz Lampert in the Portuguese Amateur Open at Montado Golf Resort near Lisbon.

The 39-year old Cavan man closed with a two over par 74 to share 11th place on one-under par as overnight leader Lambert shot a level par 72 to win by two shots from compatriot Marcel Schneider (66) and Frenchman Adrien Saddier (69) on nine-under 279.

Knock’s Nicky Grant carded a one over 73 to tie for 17th on one over 289.

McCormack had a torrid time on the front nine, going to the turn in four over 40 before hitting back with three birdies and a solitary bogey on the back nine for his 74. Results
