Grant up for the challenge in Brussels
Stephen Grant will be hoping to make the most of his second appearance on the European Challenge Tour as the Offaly man travels to this week’s Telenet Trophy at Ravenstein Royal Golf Club of Belgium, in Tervuren outside Brussels writes the European Challenge Tour.
The former Shamrock Rovers star put himself right into contention in his first appearance of the season at the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne two weeks ago, taking to the top of the leaderboard after the opening day.
While his title assault faded over the weekend, the 35 year old finished in a respectable 37th position and will enter the Telenet Trophy harbouring hopes of improving on that finish, but it will be no easy task in what is the strongest field of the regular Challenge Tour season so far.
All of the winners from the regular Challenge Tour events so far this year – Max Kieffer, Phil Archer, Seve Benson and Eddie Pepperell – are present at Ravenstein Royal Golf Club of Belgium this week, as well as numerous European Tour winners including Nick Dougherty, John Parry and Scott Strange.
The only other Irish representative in Belgium this week is Colm Moriarty, who is hoping to bounce back from a disappointing year last year in which he finished 55th in the Challenge Tour Rankings.
