Newstalk to sponsor ILGU Medal Finals
The Irish Ladies Golf Union and Newstalk 106-108fm has announced a partnership which will see the station become the official media partner and sponsor of the ILGU Medal Finals in Headfort Golf Club on October 15.
From April to September, thousands of lady golfers throughout Ireland compete in their club’s Monthly Medal Competition. The player in each club with the lowest four aggregate scores will qualify for the Newstalk-sponsored Silver and Bronze Finals in October, at Headfort Golf Club in Kells, Co. Meath.
To celebrate ladies who golf, Newstalk will run a short radio ad each week during the summer months, featuring ladies’ ‘voices’ from around the country, sharing their favourite golfing moments.
Lady golfers will be invited, through their clubs, to share their passion for the game or an interesting story they have relating to the sport.
Newstalk’s ‘Down to Business’ presenter, Bobby Kerr along with ‘Shenanigans with Sile’ presenter Sile Seoige and Mary McKenna President Elect of the ILGU and past Irish Golf Champion officially launched the partnership.
Speaking at the launch, Mary McKenna said: “We are excited at the prospect of our new relationship with Newstalk 106-108fm and believe that it is a great opportunity to further promote and encourage the growth of the game in Ireland.
“There are almost 60,000 female golfers in Ireland. Women can enjoy the sport and compete at every level from club team events to weekly competitions and Monthly Medals to the elite amateur events.
“We look forward to hearing the weekly promo on the radio as it will feature real voices of real golfers. We feel it is a wonderful opportunity for lady golfers to play an active role in the growth of the game.”
