New April date for Rosapenna Senior Scratch Cup
The Rosapenna Senior Scratch Cup has moved to the beginning of the amateur calendar with the 10th staging taking place from April 5-6 next year.
The new date will give Ireland’s top amateurs a chance to “warm up” with some quality links competition before the West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo from April 16-22.
Traditionally a one-day, 36 hole event, the 2014 edition will be played over 54 holes with an additional round on Sunday morning over the Old Tom Morris Links.
There will also be a Junior Scratch Cup, which will be played over 36 holes on Saturday, 5 April, for players with handicaps between 5 and 9.
The event, which was won by two-time major winner Rory McIlroy in 2005, will be sponsored McGinley Motors of Letterkenny and will provide a stiff test of golf over two of the finest links in the country.
