Ireland fourth in Argentina
Ireland’s Stuart Grehan and Rory McNamara finished fourth behind Spain in the Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade in Argentina on Sunday.
Tullamore’s Grehan closed with a 75 and McNamara a six over 77 to leave the Irish (593) 15 strokes adrift of Spanish pair Mario Galiano and David Morago, who won by two strokes from Australia on 578 at Los Lagartos Country Club.
Hosts Argentina were third on 587 with the individual title going to Denmark’s Nicolai Buchwardt (70 72 69 73), who won by two strokes from Galiano on level par 284.
Grehan was joint 13th on 11 over 295 (77 72 71 75) with McNamara (75 77 69 77) tied for 20th on 14 over after a costly triple bogey seven at the 17th.
Grehan was left to rue a triple bogey eight at the sixth and a double bogey at the 17th.
