Mooney reigns at Concra Wood

Damian Mooney was quickest out of the blocks in the Etihad PGA Sprint at Concra Wood. Ballyliffin professional Damian Mooney fired a two under 70 to win the second round of the Etihad PGA Sprint at Concra Wood.

The big-hitting Belfast native won by a stroke from John Kelly, Peter Martin, Daniel Sugrue, Ciaran Molloy and John Dwyer.

Three under afrer eight thanks to birdies at the par-five first, the short sixth and par four eighth, he stumbled at the short ninth to turn in 34 and dropped another shot at the 11th.

However, he got that shot back at the par five 15th hole to four shots before finishing with three par fours for an inward run of level 36.

Noel Murray (Massereene) and Mark O’Sullivan (Pilltown Driving Range) shared top spot in the first PGA Sprint event at Killeen Castle, but the latter didn’t feature at Concra Wood while Murray finished tied 23rd on 76.
