Mooney hits top form at Carton House
Damian Mooney fired a six under par 67 to win the PGA Challenge Pro-Am presented by Johnston, Mooney & O'Brien at Carton House on Monday.
The Ballyliffin professional produced a scintillating round of golf on The O'Meara, bagging eight birdies in total on his way to a three shot victory.
Mark O'Sullivan (Piltown Driving Range), James Quinlivan (Mullingar GC) and Mark Whelan (Castlewarden Golf and County Club) finished in a share of second.
Quinlivan guided his team to victory in the pro-am event with 92 points, two points ahead of Donal Gleeson (Old Conna GC).
The two-day Johnston, Mooney & O'Brien PGA Challenge gets underway tomorrow (Tuesday) with Dara Lernihan (Elm Park GC) defending his title. Last year the former Irish Amateur Close Champion edged out Neil O'Briain in a three-hole play-off.
