McVeigh five behind in Sweden

Danielle McVeigh during her amateur days for Ireland. Danielle McVeigh had four birdies in a two over 74 to trail Sweden’s Lina Boqvist and Emma Nilsson by five shots after the LET Access Tour’s Solvesborg Ladies Open in southeast Sweden.

Th Co Down player finished the opening day tied for 18th with only the top 30 and ties making today’s 36 hole cut.

Carlow’s Tara Delaney posted a six over 78 to share 59th place as Boqvist and Nilsson carded 69s to lead by shot from Scottish pair Heather MacRae and Kelsey MacDonald, who both eagled the par-five ninth on their way to opening rounds of 70.

McVeigh is 22nd in the LETAS Order of Merit having made two cuts out of four so far this season for earnings of €2,006.
