Carey and Creavin set pace in Leinster Boys

County Meath Golf Club. Carton House talent David Carey and Killeen Castle’s Daire Creavin fired three under par 70s to take the first round lead in the Leinster Boys’ Amateur Open Championship at Co Meath.

The duo lead by a shot from Royal Portrush’s Conor Rankin , Newlands’ Jake Whelan,  Rowan Lester of Hermitage and Tandragee’s Stefan Greenberg.

Past winners of the title include Niall Kearney (2006), Shane Lowry (2005), Gareth Shaw (2001) and Pádraig Harrington, who won by 11 strokes at Royal Tara in 1988 - 25 years ago.
