Jordanstown's Stephanie Meadow made a slow but steady start to the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in Florida.

The 22-year old former Curtis Cup and Alabama star, third in the US Women's Open on her professional debut this summer, shot a level par 72 on the Jones Course at LPGA National in Daytona Beach. Scoring

Meadow started brightly with birdies at the second and third but bogeyed the ninth and 10th to finish the day tied for 46th, two shots outside the top 20 who will win LPGA cards after Sunday's fifth round.

American Casey Grice shot a six under par 66 at the same venue to lead by a stroke from former Solheim Cup player Ryann O'Toole, Korea's Ju Young Park and Spain's Maria Hernandez with Tger Woods's niece Cheyenne Woods (68) just two strokes off the lead in joint fifth.

England's Charley Hull is joint 105th after a disappointing, three over 75 on the Hill Course.
