Dream Hilary start for teen Foley

Teenager Hugh Foley timed his first RaboDirect Hilary Golf Society appearance to perfection when he defied a strong breeze and heavy showers to win by two strokes at The Royal Dublin Golf Club.

The 16-year old posted a superb 70 in the conditions to capture his maiden win with birdies at the second and 10th proving crucial on a day when he teamed up with his father and fellow Royal Dublin man Dave Foley and Castle's Jim Mulready to win the team event with 64.

Robert Hutton from The Island followed up his earlier win at Seapoint with 72 to finish a clear second while former Leinster Interprovincial Alan Dowling ( Hermitage) secured the gross with 77 on what was a very difficult day at the Dollymount links.
