Ryan and Mehaffey make matchplay at Sandwich

Casteltroy's Chloe Ryan and Royal County Down Ladies' Olivia Mehaffey made Thursday's matchplay stages of the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship at Royal St George's.
Ryan added a six over 80 to her opening 73 to qualify in 34th on five over par with Mehaffey following her opening 76 with a 78 to take 39th spot on six over.

Defending champion, Georgia Hall failed to make it while another Curtis Cup player, Eilidh Briggs, and recently crowned Scottish Champion Gabrielle Macdonald are also out.
The Heath's Mary Doyle, who claimed the Irish Women's Close title in Enniscrone last week, disqualified herself for not properly identifying a provisional ball while Paula Grant missed out by one on nine over, Emma O'Driscoll and Maria Dunne (11 over) also failed to progress to the matchplay stages.
