All Ireland Father and Son glory for the Grimes family
Killeen Castle's Paul Grimes teamed up with his son Paul of Portmarnock Golf Club to win the CPL Resources sponsored All Ireland Father and Son Foursomes at Castle.
They defeated Castle's Eamon and Paul O’Doherty 2 and 1 in a hard-fought final at the Rathfarnham venue after over than 500 golfers representing more than 100 clubs had participated in the qualifying rounds.
On the first qualifying weekend, the Hughes family from Courtown led the qualifiers with a net score of 66 with the Whelans being the leading Castle pair on 69. The leading gross score of the qualifiers was 72 by the Denvirs from Powerscourt/Milltown.
Sixty-four pairs qualified for the matchplay stages of the event, which began on Monday and ran every evening during the week.
