Mulligan and Cameron lead Under 15 Boys
Laytown & Bettystown’s Thomas Mulligan and Newlands’ Cameron Raymond hold the lead at the halfway stage of the Irish Boys Under 15 Amateur Open Championship at Castlewarden, writes the GUI.
Mulligan and Raymond carded opening rounds of 71 at the immaculate Castlewarden course, and lead by two shots from nearest rivals Reece Black (Cairndhu) and Sean Dowling (Beaverstown).
Raymond, starting from the 10th, carded birdies on his first and third holes, but bogeyed the 15th, 16th and 17th before birdies at the first and fourth, and pars on the other seven holes of his front nine, left him with a one-under total.
Also starting at the 10th, Mulligan’s progress was slightly steadier, carding 15 pars, one bogey (at the 13th), and two birdies at the 14th and fourth.
